UV-Visible Spectrophotometer

The UV-Spectrophotometer of Shimadzu make and model UV-1800 is available in the department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. The instrument is mainly used for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of unknown and known substances. It is used for the quality control of drugs and its pharmaceutical preparations. Our UG, PG, PhD research scholars and Faculty members are effectively working on different research topics related to pharmaceutical sciences. There are many students have worked on this instrument and completed their summer research projects. The outcome of work performed is published as research publications in indexed journals as well as scientific poster presentations in various conferences. The instrument is widely used for testing and analyzing the bulk drugs, pharmaceutical formulations, herbal medicines and drugs in biological fluids.

Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)

Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy is a technique used to obtain an infrared spectrum of absorption or emission of a solid, liquid, or gas. An FTIR spectrometer simultaneously collects high-resolution spectral data over a wide spectral range..SHIMADZU IR affinity 1

High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC Agilent Infinity 1220)

The HPLC is the modern chromatographic techniques which works on the principle of affinity. The instrument is mainly used for the quality analysis of drugs and pharmaceuticals. The instrument is handled by our UG, PG, PhD Research Scholars and Faculty members for conducting there practical’s, research projects, summer research projects and funded projects. The outcome of which is published as good number of research publications in national and international journals.

Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC)

DSC-60 Shimadzu model is available in the department. DSC is a thermal analyser technique in which the difference in the amount of heat required to increase the temperature of samples and reference is measured as a function of temperature. It is used for the characterization of drugs and pharmaceutical preparations, study of polymorphs, compatibility study of drug and excipients, measurement of heat of fusion, purity testing, food science, general chemical analysis, drug analysis, oxidative stability and crystallization studies etc. Many UG, PG, PhD research scholars and faculty members utilizes this instrument to conduct their research activities.
